Paddle your way to Floatzilla in the biggest float on the Mississippi River!
This video will help give paddlers who sign up for the Advanced Paddle a better idea of how to lock through. The Advanced Paddle will launch promptly at 9 a.m. from Ben Butterworth Parkway as we have priority to lock through at 10:30. See below for additional details.
Registered Floatzilla participants can take part in guided floats and activities for all levels of paddlers.
When you register you will be asked to select your launch site. Here are the events planned and appropriate minimum skill level for each launch.

All Levels of Paddlers
Launch your boat on Lake Potter at Sunset Marina, Rock Island for a variety of fun and educational activities on the water.
- Check-in from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Floatzilla Guinness World Record attempt at 2 p.m.
- Recommended for participants with no paddling experience, casual paddlers, and late arrivals
- Beginners can receive safety and technique lessons from certified instructors
- Intermediate and advanced paddlers can join the fun with timed races and kayak rolling competition
- Large unloading/loading area
- Day-of registration and packet pickup
- Free but limited on-site parking
- Free off-site parking nearby with complimentary shuttle service – participants should unload at Lake Potter first and leave their kayaks/canoes in the free check-in/check-out security area prior to parking at the off-site parking area

Intermediate Paddlers
Launch your boat at Ben Butterworth Parkway, Moline, IL for a guided float on the Mississippi River. (9-mile route w/ est. paddle time of 2-3 hours)
- Check-in from 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Float begins at 9:15 a.m.
- Recommended for intermediate and advanced paddlers seeking a paddling tour of the Quad Cities Water Trails
- Registered paddlers will float down Sylvan Slough [bypassing the main channel and Lock & Dam 15] and encounter a short portage that includes steps on Sylvan Island on their way to Lake Potter
- Day-of registration and packet pickup will be available at launch
- Free parking
- Free return shuttle service to the launch site will be provided after the world record attempt
- Free kayak/canoe check-in/check-out security will be provided at Lake Potter while paddlers retrieve their vehicles

Launch your boat at Credit Island, Davenport, IA for a short float on the Mississippi River. (1/2-mile route w/ est. paddle time of 30 minutes - RIVER CROSSING REQUIRED)
- Directly across the Mississippi River from Lake Potter
- Recommended for paddlers with some prior river experience who would like to avoid the congestion at Lake Potter by making a quick paddle across the river to the event
- Paddle back to Credit Island after Floatzilla
- Day-of registration and packet pickup will be available at launch
- Free parking
- Perfect option for those registered to camp on Credit Island

Advanced Paddlers
The Advanced Paddle is full at 250 boats
Registration for the Int. Paddle from Ben Butterworth is still open
Launch your boat at Ben Butterworth Parkway, Moline, IL for a guided float on the Mississippi River. (9-mile route w/ est. paddle time of 2-3 hours) This float is limited to the first 250 boats registered - advanced paddlers only
- Check-in from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Float begins at 9 a.m.
- Recommended for advanced paddlers seeking a paddling tour of the Quad Cities Water Trails
- Registered paddlers will float down the main channel between Arsenal Island and Davenport and lock through Lock & Dam 15 on the way to Lake Potter
- Corps of Engineers will close the river to industrial traffic so that paddlers won't encounter barges on the float
- Day-of registration and packet pickup will be available at launch
- Free parking
- Free return shuttle service to the launch site will be provided after the world record attempt
- Free kayak/canoe check-in/check-out security will be provided at Lake Potter while paddlers retrieve their vehicles
